Help Center
Everything you need to get the most out of WeeklyTasks.
Getting started
Creating your first task
Type a task name in the "Add new task..." field and press Enter. Your task appears in the task list on the left. Tap or click it to add details like descriptions, color tags, and groups.
Scheduling tasks on your calendar
Desktop: Drag a task from the list and drop it onto a day. You can drop the same task onto multiple days for multi-day work.
Mobile: Tap a task to open its details. Use the week strip to tap the days you want to schedule it on. Swipe left/right to navigate between weeks.
Completing tasks
Click or tap the circle next to a task to mark it as done. Completed tasks get a strikethrough and move to the bottom of the list. You can uncheck them anytime.
Note: marking a task as complete applies to the whole task across all scheduled days — this is by design. One task, one completion status.
What shows in the task list?
The task list always shows all incomplete tasks, plus any completed tasks that have a date scheduled in the currently selected week. This means completed tasks from past weeks won't clutter your view, but you can still see them if you navigate to that week.
Searching tasks
Task list search: The search field in the task list filters only the tasks visible in the current week view (see above). It searches by title, description, tag, and group name.
Global search: Use the search bar in the top header to search across all your tasks. Clicking a result opens the task detail and navigates to the week where the task was last scheduled.
Deleting and restoring tasks
Delete a task from its detail view using the "Delete task" button at the bottom. Deleted tasks are moved to a recycle bin — not permanently removed. To restore them, open the user menu and select "Deleted Tasks".
Organizing your tasks
Color tags
Assign a color tag to categorize tasks by project, priority, or type. Each tag has both a color and a custom text label (e.g. red + "Urgent", purple + "Work"). Click the tag icon on a task or open the task detail to choose a color and edit the label.
Tasks in the calendar show their color as a left border, making it easy to see your week's balance at a glance.
Groups
Type a group name (e.g. "Work", "Side Project") in the task detail to organize tasks into collapsible sections in the task list. Tasks with the same group name are grouped together.
Double grouping: groups + tags
Tasks are grouped at two levels: first by group name, then by color tag within each group. This means you can have a "Work" group with tasks tagged "Purple / Backend" and "Blue / Frontend", each in their own collapsible subsection. This gives you a clear visual hierarchy without complex folder structures.
Parent & subtasks
Link tasks together with parent-child relationships. Open a task's details, expand "More details", and select a parent task. Subtasks appear indented under their parent in the task list.
Descriptions & Markdown
Add notes, links, or detailed instructions to any task. Click "Edit" in the task detail to write or update the description.
Descriptions support Markdown formatting: **bold**, *italic*, `code`, links, lists, headings, and code blocks. Write structured notes directly in your tasks.
Stakeholders
Track who's involved in your tasks. Manage your list of stakeholders in Settings (user menu → Settings → Stakeholders). Once added, you can assign stakeholders to individual tasks from the task detail view under "More details".
Statistics
View your productivity stats from the user menu → "User Statistics". See completed and processed tasks per week over the last 8 weeks, broken down by color tag. Track your progress and spot trends.
Calendar & navigation
Navigating weeks
Use the arrow buttons above the calendar to move between weeks. Click "Today" to jump back to the current week. The task list filters to show tasks relevant to the selected week.
Multi-day tasks
WeeklyTasks is designed around the idea that one task can take multiple days. Drop "Write report" onto Monday, Wednesday, and Friday — it's still one task, visible on all three days. Complete it once, and it's done everywhere.
Removing a task from a day
Desktop: Hover over a task in the calendar and click the X button.
Mobile: Open the task detail, find the scheduled date badge, and tap the X next to it.
Week start day
By default the week starts on Monday. You can change this to Sunday in Settings.
Mobile tips
